Impressions of

The RAF Museum

Hendon

Set taken on the 27th of August 2003 and does not, as yet, include the associated Battle of Britain Museum.

The Museum is situated on the Hendon/Colindale borders (Nearest Tube Station is actually Colindale. Hendon will give you one long hike!!

I think that it has largely been eclipsed by the Duxford Air Museum, Cambridgeshire, which is now part of the Imperial War Museum set up.

The site is the old Hendon Aerodrome. This has been long closed and given over to housing on the west and the Metropolitan Police Training Centre to the south. The remaining site available for the museum is therefore quite limited and it shows.

Exhibits are crammed together, sometimes with the wings removed or clipped to save space.
