Queen Street Mill
This is reputed to be the last working steam powered cotton mill in the world.
We visited on the 24th October 2006 and took video as well as still pictures. This site is therefore very much a test bed for incorporating video with the more usual pictures. The original video was made for Usenet distribution and has been heavily compressed and shrunk for the web. Should you wish for a full quality version, contact me.
The video player is just an embedded windoze one and double clicking makes it go full screen, at least where I am sitting. It moans about the file type but does play it here. How well it streams there I would love to know...
There are a few 'jokes' here. Tartan is Scottish. Lancashire is England. Tartan is traditionally heavy woolen. Lancashire and thus this mill is cotton.
Still it makes a pleasant change from plain backgrounds, is a woven cloth and pleases She who MUST be obayed, as the Tartan is McKenzie and she started off as the darkest member of that clan around.
