Gas Compressor Houses

There are actually two of these, a matched pair on the main roof of the plant. They are used to pump up natural gas to the pressure required for operation of the diesel engines on Gas.

The first picture is of the outside of one of these showing a couple of the fire fighting units which surround the structures.

The compressors are three stage piston units with intercooling and aftercooling. The Coolers are in the top of the houses and can just be seen in picture five.

The silver paint on the vessels, which in some places can at first view look like duct tape, is from where original paintwork has been stripped back during recent non-destructive testing of the vessels.
