Ashridge is a large estate, now effectively in two parts. The stone croft behind the title was built by the third Duke of Bridgewater, who made his money out of building Canals, as his country cottage. It is now some sort of private Management college. The rest of the estate is in the hands of the National Trust. Looking from the top of his monument, the above button, shows the path between his place and monument and is a guide as to how extensive the estate is. For more information 'Vikki' is your friend.
