The Royal Daffodil

Return to main index

This boat has been extensively modified since being built in 1962 by Camel Lairds.

Originally she had an open bridge between the wheelhouse and docking stations. As can be seen this is now a continuous enclosed bridge.
There used to be a forward embarkation way where the blank white bit of upperwork can now be seen in picture three and a further upper deck one. The removal of the Main deck one has allowed for the forming of one large saloon where two used to exist.

Originally powered by two Crossley engines, the engine room has now been completely stripped out and refitted with Finnish engines (Ho Hum can we not make anything today?)

As it was told to me, there is unlikely to ever be money available to replace these boats, so now they are steadily being refurbished with the hull plates being replaced as needed at dry dockings, so that effectively they will become new boats anyway.
