Church
Village

The church is still, after over two millennia, the centre of Village life today.
It often seems strange to visit one after seeing the waste and decay in many inner city ones, to see the love and care taken over the village Church.
Just a walk round one will give a local history lesson.

The Place dates from about the 11 century with bits and bobs added along the way.

The quintessential English Village in the minds of American film producers and thus most Merkins. From thatched roofs via an old Church to a large Duck pond in the middle, it has it all.
Therefore the place is well used to the invasion of the film and TV crews for period an d modern productions with an eye to the Merkin Market.

The village was photographed in the middle of the hard winter of 2009-10, actually 17-01-10, with ice still thick on the pond
